This certification course is recommended for anyone that serves food to others, especially those who serve food to the public. This course satisfies legislated food handler training requirements across Prince Edward Island and is ideal for staff in restaurants, day cares, camps, long-term care homes, special events, etc.
It is a Prince Edward Island government requirement. Their purpose is to: 1) verify test-taker identification, 2) maintain security of the exam questions, and 3) prevent cheating.
The Prince Edward Island health authority require online test-takers to prove their identity. To do this, valid photo ID is required. Only name and photo is necessary. All other private information on the ID may be covered.

A score of at least 70% on the final exam is necessary to pass the course and receive your Prince Edward Island food safety certificate.
Not to worry. The pass rate on the first exam attempt is about 99%. However, free retests are available, if necessary.

Upon passing the exam, two sizes of certificates are available for download. These certificates are to be self-printed by students and can be printed as many times as students wish. Hard copies of the certificates are not mailed later.
It takes the average user about 6 hours to complete the course. You have up to 30 days to complete the final exam. If you wish, it is possible to proceed directly to the final exam at anytime.

Course material may be reviewed on any Internet-connected device with a web browser. Only the final exam portion must be completed using a desktop or laptop with webcam and microphone enabled. Tablets and smartphones are not supported at this time.
The final exam must be taken using either Chrome or Firefox web browsers. Be sure to use the most up-to-date versions of Chrome or Firefox.
All course materials are provided online in the course. Nothing needs to be mailed.
Our live proctor exam service partner has the ability to halt and/or cancel the exam at any time. If cheating or unusual behaviour is observed, the proctor will halt the exam and issue a warning. If the warning is ignored, the exam will be closed and result in immediate failure. Any granted retest will be at the expense of the student.
We respect our student’s privacy. Your exam results will only be released to you, any sponsoring organization (if applicable), your local health department, and your provincial health authorities, as required.
